Ohh what a delight it is - Chilling out on a trekking & camping Trip ! On one side trekking test our strength and on the other hand camping teaches us how to live with minimum basic needs. These activities are for those dare devils who like challenges. However, to make utmost of your trip comfortably one must carry these trekking and camping essentials:

Things to include in your campsite gear

Ofcourse a tent with tent footprint, poles, stakes, sleeping bags, torches, fuel, firestarter are “must have” gears for a camping trip. These essentials will keep you cozy in the cold nights. For extra comfort one can also carry blankets, small cushions, headlamp and a walking stick (If a trek is tough one). Also it’s wise to carry camping repair kit in case the tents are more than 7 or 8.

Clothes to carry during Trekking

Your bag should have a wind cheater with hood, Woollen Sweaters, Scarf, T-Shirts, hat, gloves, socks, trekking trousers, shoes, innerwears, nightwears and thermals. During a camping and trekking trip one should always be ready for every type of weather. You may sweat from scorching sunshine and the next moment heavy rain pour down on you. These changes in weather automatically lead to temperature fluctuation. Thus, one is advisable to carry all sorts of clothes best suitable for changing weather conditions.

Setting up your Kitchen Camp

The most essential ingredient for your Kitchen will be water. Make sure you carry enough water for cooking and washing. You can also set up your camp near a water source to ease the things. Other major items for your kitchen camp will be stove, fuel and utensils. Definitely without these elements one cannot cook. However, as an alternative to stove using a natural bonfire will be a good idea (in case the weather is good). Utensils to carry during your trekking and camping trip will be knife, cutting board, frying pan, spoons mugs, bowls etc. On a trek you definitely need something to eat. So put on those Veggies, Spices and cooking oil in your bags. For packing & disposing the things do not forget to carry silver foils, thermal box / bottles and trashbags.

Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene during Camp

Needless to say that the toiletries such toothbrush and paste, soap, toilet rolls, towels, hand sanitizer must be there in your bags. These things will keep you fresh during the trip. To safeguard yourself from side effects of sun and chilly winds, never ever forget to put on a sunscreen (SPF 50 or more) along with a heavy moisturizer. Also, insect repellant is something which you will thank yourself for carrying – It will be save you from unwanted mosquito bites and rashes.

First Aid Kit, Snacks and Batteries

No one would like to get sick or injured during a camping & trekking trip. However, if that happen first aid kit will play a crucial role. “Must Have” items to be included in your medical kit will be cotton, bandages, pain killers, antiseptic creams, nutrient pills, glucose sachets etc. As for the batteries an external battery charger is something which will keep your electronics going. Last but not the least; keep some snacks handy. It can be candies, chocolates, dry fruits, chewing gums, energy drinks or any other eatables that can keep your energy levels up.

Some Important Things not to forget

Permission to set up the camp: Yes, definitely you can’t just set up your camp anywhere. There are sites which are either restricted zones or are not safe to pitch a tent. Thus, for security purposes one must obtain permission from concerned authorities.

Weather & Navigation: Make sure before you head on those adventurous trails the weather is clear to travel. Navigation will include trek route map or a trek guide. The latter is better as tour guide can give you more knowledge about the place, help in camping and also in emergency situations.

Oxygen Cylinder / Spray: Many times you may feel out of breath and at that time a small amount of spray will definitely get your breaths back.

Water-purification tablets: In case you are using natural water source but doubt its cleanliness than water purification tablets will surely solve this problem – just pour the tablets in container and let it sit for 30 min. To neutralize water taste one can use Vitamin C tablets too.

Camera: Oh you are in a wonderful place but don’t you want to capture the memories? That’s where an awesome gadget called “Camera” come into use. Depending on your interest you can take some picturesque snapshots, make cool videos and share it on social media platforms too.
